CMU Partners on New Fellowship to Advance Innovation in PA

By Amanda King

On May 1, Pennsylvania Gov. Wolf announced a new fellowship program in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and other partners. The initiative is designed to match the state's best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students with local manufacturers to develop new technologies and advance innovation statewide.

According to the press release, "The fellowship program will embed student fellows from any accredited Pennsylvania college or university with local manufacturing companies and provide funding for research projects designed to develop new products or processes for that company. Universities that have partnered with a manufacturer can apply for and receive between $25,000 and $70,000 in funding for specific student research projects."

Wolf made the announcement at Carnegie Mellon where its College of Engineering students, many of whom are energy researchers, could have the opportunity to engage with PA companies through this new program.
